DeShana Collett, MSPAS, PA-C

Lecturer, Division Physician Assistant Studies

Biography

DeShana Collett received her BS in Biology from the University of Kentucky in 2000 and her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Kentucky in 2003. She has joined our program in January of 2008 as a lecturer and has assumed the role as Admission’s Director in the Fall of 2010. Mrs. Collett is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Educational Policy Studies and Procedures in Higher Education.

Educational Interest

Mrs. Collett is involved in several didactic curriculum courses and laboratory sessions that include instruction in Clinical Lecture Series and Clinical Methods. She also is course director for Family Medicine, Women’s Health and Selective Clerkships. Her primary interest is in Women’s Health, Pediatrics and Cultural Competency. She is involved in KAPA and AAPA, with a heavy interest in key legislative issues that affect PA’s.

Clinical Experience

As a certified physician assistant, she has experience in Physical Medicine / Rehabilitation and Orthopedics, Urgent Care and Family Medicine. She currently works in a local Family Medicine practice.

Personal

Mrs. Collett is married with 3 children. She is involved in her local soccer club at Commonwealth Soccer, as a team rep coordinator. She also enjoys music, soccer and relaxation.
