Research Challenge Trust Fund

The Kentucky General Assembly challenged the University of Kentucky to become a top-20 university by 2020. The UK Chandler Medical Center also has set as its goal to become a top-20 academic health center. The Medical Center’s success depends on that extra edge of excellence that only increased state and private support can provide.

The Legislature pledged its support and established the Research Challenge Trust Fund. The state will match dollar-for-dollar up to $66.6 million in contributions for endowed chairs, professorships, fellowships and other research initiatives. This special fund allows investors to double their impact on the Medical Center.
