Heather holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Anthropology from Indiana University. Before entering the Ph.D. program at the Graduate Center for Gerontology, Heather taught human Geography at Franklin College and held research positions at Indiana University, the Department of Veteran’s Affairs, and Eli Lilly Pharmaceuticals. Her research interests include the influence of bioaccumulation of environmental toxins on aging and the development of chronic disease, medical geography of aging and chronic disease, and instrumental adaptation of isolated elders.
