Katherina (Katie) Nikzad is a graduate of Otterbein College, where she received her B.A. in psychology. Katie is a state certified nursing assistant and has extensive experience as a formal caregiver for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Her work experience also includes geriatric mental health and geriatric case management. She is a research fellow in the Graduate Center for Gerontology and teaches in the College of Social Work. Katie is the former secretary of the Emerging Scholar and Professional Organization of the Gerontological Society of America, and is currently a member of Sigma Phi Omega (National Honors Society in Gerontology), the Alzheimer’s Association, and the National Association of Social Workers. Her research interests include the onset of dementia caregiving and communication and Alzheimer’s disease.
