Adah received dual BS degrees in chemistry and biology from Savannah State University and has a MA degree in Gerontology from the State University of West Georgia. Currently, she is working on an Area on Aging Grant under Dr. Deborah Danner (PI) in the Department of Preventative Medicine. The grant focuses on African Americans in the Lexington/Fayette County area suffering from all forms of dementia, especially Alzheimer's disease. The main thrusts of the grant are (1) to increase awareness of dementia; (2) to provide dementia diagnostic services and treatment within the African American community; (3) to offer two separate services through churches-support groups and a Best Friends care program-to complement services already in place. She is also conducting a pilot study on African American caregivers perceptions about the emotional status of their family member by examining their observations of the facial behaviors of their family members before and after the onset of dementia.
