Administration

The Administrative Core is responsible for overseeing both operational and financial functions of the GCRC. The main role of the Administrative Core is assuring compliance of the department and University to NIH guidelines regarding financial support of GCRC grants. The AD core, like the other cores, is a service based center. For investigators, they are the initial point of contact with the GCRC. The AD core assists the investigator by guiding them through the application process. In addition, they help the investigator to understand and utilize the services offered by the GCRC to supplement their research protocol. After all appropriate documents have been collected; the AD core assigns reviewers to the protocol and assures that they are reviewed in a timely and accurate manner. The AD core also verifies and pays subject bills according to agreed upon budget.

Mentored Students and CReFF awardees comprise the educational component of the GCRC. The Administrative Core coordinates activities for the mentored students ensuring their continued learning through research opportunities at the University of Kentucky. The CReFF award funds are monitored and distributed by the AD core per the requested budget that was approved by the Advisory Committee.
