Family and Community Medicine

Medical Student Education

We are committed to providing a quality Medical Education program in Family Medicine that incorporates a variety of student-centered opportunities and activities while requiring high academic standards from both students and faculty.

We are devoted to serving medical students and communities through promoting scholarly activities & community services.

  • Quality Curriculum: Provide a curriculum that fosters learning and helps students develop to their full potential. This curriculum will be progressive and ever changing in order to meet the evolutionary medical needs of the community.
  • Diverse and Innovative Learning: Offer a medical education curriculum that includes cutting-edge learning techniques. "Adult learning" will be encouraged.
  • Promotion: Promote family medicine within the Medical Education Program to assist in meeting the needs of Kentucky's communities.

Faculty Development: Provide support for faculty research and scholarship through publications, presentations, and grant writing. Encourage faculty to develop their full potential while maintaining a balance between work and personal needs. We strive for academic presence statewide and nationally.

Program Assessment/Evaluation: To consistently meet or exceed the needs of the students, course and instructor evaluations will be collected with the results reviewed and applied to enhance future academic activities.

Diversity: Create an environment that values, embraces, and enriches individual differences by providing opportunities which reflect ethnic, cultural, and social diversity.

Community Support: Contribute exemplary leadership and assistance to efforts that enrich Kentucky's communities and supports the collective environment.
