  Biography

B.S., University of Kentucky, graduated Magna Cum Laude; D.M.D., Universtiy of Kentucky College of Dentistry.

Dr. Stone has served as the Dental Program Director of the UK North Fork Valley Community Health Center since July 2004.  She also directs the Eastern Kentucky Ronald McDonald Care Mobile dental outreach program and coordinates the dental residency rural rotations for the College of Dentistry General Practice Residency Program.  She serves a joint appointment between the College of Medicine and the College of Dentistry.

Dr. Stone began her career serving patients at a community health center (CHC) near her hometown in rural Kentucky, Mountain Comprehensive Health Corporation in Whitesburg. While there, she was promoted to Assistant Dental Director. After three years, she moved out west and became the Dental Director for a frontier CHC in northern New Mexico where she received loan repayment through the National Health Service Corps. After two years, she transferred closer to home and served another year in a community health center in rural southwestern Virginia. Dr. Stone then spent three years working part time as a clinical instructor for the dental hygiene programs in Hazard and Prestonsburg. Her nine years of clinical service have been exclusively with indigent rural populations.

Dr. Stone is a member of the American Dental Association and the Kentucky Dental Health Coalition. She serves on the local Rotary Free Clinic Board and is an Ambassador for the National Health Service Corps. Her special interests include preventive care, wellness, rural public health dentistry, and community outreach projects.  She is considering pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Health.

Dr. Stone’s goals are to create a dental environment of excellence emphasizing education and prevention in which underserved populations are ensured the same standards of care as patients elsewhere. She seeks to improve both the dental health and the overall health and well-being of the populations she serves by educating and exemplifying a healthy lifestyle based on knowledgeable choices.
