Dr. Moore’s interest in rural health began with medical school and
residency rotation experiences in Eastern Tennessee and Nepal and
continued following residency with five years of service in northeast
Arizona’s Hopi Nation with the U.S.P.H.S. Indian Health Service. While at
the Hopi Reservation he served as Service Unit Assistant Clinical
Director and satellite clinic Medical Director. In 1996, he began
Community Health Center (CHC) work in rural southeast Ohio where he
served as a clinician and Site Director before pursuing a Master’s Degree
in Health Care Management.
Dr. Moore’s special interests include Access and Delivery Improvement in
Healthcare Systems, Clinical Outcome-based Quality Improvement, and
Chronic Disease Prevention and Treatment. He has been involved in
explorations of walk-in access, same-day access and house-call based care
delivery models aimed at improving access especially for underserved
rural communities. He has also had special interest in the impact of
spiritual and mental well-being on health and illness and was co-awarded
a Mental Health Advocate Award in relation to his CHC activities.
Dr. Moore’s goals are to support technically rigorous resident and
student medical education and constructive Systems thinking while
emphasizing the importance of Compassion and Perspective applied to the
Individual patient in promoting health and healing.
