Our Curriculum
Global Health TrackThe Department of Family & Community Medidcine offeres a Global Health Track , a new focus-area curriculum and residents interested in learning about the social determinants of health and care of vulnerable populations at home and abroad. The emphasis is on experiential learning about sustainable change through community engagement and incorporates an Ecuador field experience with Shoulder-to-Shoulder Global. This track is open to incoming PGY-1 residents. Sports Medicine TrackWe are pleased to offer a sports medicine track to interested incoming residents who matched in our program and have a demonstrated interest in sports medicine. This track provides a longitudinal experience in a variety of primary care sports medicine clinical and scholarly activities. It is a great opportunity for residents who are interested in applying to a sports medicine fellowship. During the first year of training, residents who are accepted into this track are paired with a sports medicine fellow on event and high school coverage. The resident will have the opportunity to continue to provide coverage for the high school teams and rotate in sports medicine as an upper level. Electives*Elective Examples: Allergy, Anesthesiology, Cardiology, Bluegrass Community Health Center, Endocrinology, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Faculty Development, Geriatrics, Infectious Disease, Intensive Care, Maternal/Child Development, Occupational Medicine, Practice Management, Radiology, Rheumatology. |
