Kentucky Donor RegistryMISSION STATEMENT The Lions Eye bank of Lexington is responsible for procuring and placing human eye tissue for transplantation. The Lions Eye Bank of Lexington will advance ophthalmic research and training to better serve the local, state, national and international communities. Policies and procedures will follow the guidelines and regulations set forth by the EBAA and FDA. The Lions Eye Bank of Lexington will collaborate with the Trust for Life Program in the state of Kentucky for the citizens of the commonwealth and promote awareness for eye, tissue and organ donation. OBJECTIVES To promote and provide quality eye banking services to the citizens of the commonwealth. To support the mission statement of the Department of Ophthalmology at University of Kentucky by providing an adequate supply of tissue for academic training and research. To support the worldwide efforts of Project ORBIS to eradicate blindness through corneal transplantation and education. To support the mission of the Lions International by providing tissue for transplantation to local, regional, national and international communities. |
