Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery is a progressive and expanding specialty with both medical and surgical aspects. Our curriculum is designed to provide intensive clinical experience within a vigorous academic framework to provide an environment for outstanding patient care, scientific research, and an atmosphere of learning.

The Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery encompasses all aspects of our field. These include otologic, neurotologic and skull base surgery; head and neck cancer surgery; microvascular and regional reconstruction; cosmetic facial surgery; maxillofacial trauma surgery; cleft lip/palate repair; nasal and sinus surgery; allergy and immunology; obstructive sleep apnea surgery; and pediatric otolaryngology.

The Division also specializes in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of the Face. Led by Dr. Sanford Archer and Dr. Amit B. Patel, the Division offers a variety of rejuvenation procedures such as eyelid surgery, facelifts, brow lifts as well as reconstructive surgery of the nose and other facial structures. We specialize in the use of BOTOX and the latest in injection materials for your complete makeover. What does an otolaryngologist do?

A board-certified otolaryngologist has been trained in medical and surgical skills to treat these areas of the head and neck:

Skin and face: Including cancer, cosmetic surgery (face lift, skin resurfacing, eyelid surgery), and rehabilitation of facial paralysis

Nose and sinuses: Including allergy, sinus infection, breathing problems, tumors, cosmetic surgery and reconstruction, and disorders of taste and smell

Ears: Including balance disorders, infections, tumors, external ear deformities, assessment of hearing and treatment either with surgery or with hearing aids

Mouth: Including fractures of the jaw and other facial bones, diseases of the mouth and birth defects

Throat and Voice Box: Including swallowing and breathing problems, infections, tumors, birth defects, speech and voice diagnostics and therapy

Neck: Including tumors of the thyroid and parathyroid glands, saliva-producing glands, and other neck tumors or cancers
