Diabetes mellitus

Our diabetes program offers comprehensive evaluation and treatment of diabetes and related complications. The determination and evaluation of lipid and carbohydrate metabolism to assist in treatments including:

  • Intensive insulin therapies, including pump therapy and 72 hour continuous glucose monitoring
  • Comprehensive diabetes education by our American Diabetes Association-certified program
  • Computer-assisted glucose monitoring and analysis
  • Pharmacotherapies for Type 2 diabetes
  • Clinical research involving new treatment therapies

Pituitary Gland Disease

Measurement and monitoring of pituitary gland tumors, which often causes adverse symptoms; a tumor, for example, may exert consequential pressure onto areas that surround it, such as the optic nerve to cause visual problems. Evaluation mechanisms include:

  • Stimulation and suppression testing to evaluate function of the pituitary gland
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) / computerized axial tomography (CT) scans for visualization of a pituitary mass

Treatments include:

  • Neurosurgical consultation and procedural evaluation
  • Hormonal replacement therapies
  • New medical therapies

Intensive Obesity Management

Furthering efforts to assist in the management of obesity through the use of multiple applications, including:

  • Low-calorie diets
  • Lifestyle changes through the incorporation of group therapies
  • Clinical investigations
  • New pharmacotherapies
  • New nutritional applications

Hypercalcemia

Evaluation of the metabolism of calcium including hormone regulation and consequently, excessive calcium levels in the serum

  • Measurement of parathyroid hormone (PTH) and parathyroid hormone-related protein (PTH-rp)
  • Assessment of renal function as it relates to calcium excretion
  • Dual energy X-ray absorptionmetery (DEXA) bone mass measurements

Thyroid Disease

Evaluation of the thyroid gland to aid in research and development of new treatment therapies for the following disorders:

  • Thyroidtoxicosis (Graves' Disease)
  • Thyroid Nodules
  • Hypothyroidism and goiters
