Emergency Medicine

The Department of Emergency Medicine provides medical direction and physician support to the UK Hospital Event Medical Services service. This program provides onsite medical care to large public events such as football and basketball game, auto racing, concerts, and horse shows. During the past year, onsite medical care was provided at all University of Kentucky football games at Commonwealth Stadium, men’s basketball games at Rupp Arena, NASCAR and Indy Racing League events at the Kentucky Speedway, and the Rolex 3-day Competition at the Kentucky Horse Park. Medical care has been provided for crowds over 70,000.

This service is able to provide the necessary physicians, nurses, paramedics, EMTs, air medical helicopter, ground ambulances, and medical supplies for large gatherings.
