About the Division
The Division of Restorative Dentistry combines the traditional disciplines of Prosthodontic Dentistry, Operative Dentistry, and Dental Materials. The division is responsible for training pre-doctoral students in the management and the care of dentate, edentulous, and partially edentulous patients.
The division is committed to developing clinical excellence in motivated students who are fueled by compassion for their patients. We teach concepts and techniques that are scientifically sound and clinically validated. We believe restorative dentists are to be more than technicians, and to that end we integrate the relevant biological and materials science into our curriculum.
We believe skills are developed gradually, so we are committed to providing a learning environment that allows students to evolve from ignorant and incompetent to knowledgeable and competent. We expect each and every student to optimize their native abilities, and we commit ourselves to making available all the opportunities and relationships needed to make that happen. We do all this in an atmosphere of mutual respect and collegiality.
