Self-Study: 2011 Accreditation Draft Document
The Accreditation self-study process was officially begun in August 2009 when Dean Turner, appointed the Self-Study for Accreditation Steering Committee. Eighteen members, including faculty, staff and student representatives, were charged with guiding the self-study process in preparation for the upcoming accreditation site visit. Six ad hoc committees were then formed and chairs appointed to conduct the self-study process based on the six accreditation standards. The ad hoc committees along with the deans, department chairs and division chiefs had engaged in an intensive review of the existing standards of accreditation for pre-doctoral education and comparison of those to the revised standards which were proposed and thus were familiar with the standards.
Drafts of the self study responses for each standard were presented in a series of meetings of the Steering Committee and revisions accomplished according to feedback received during the respective meeting. On November 22, 2010 a two hour faculty meeting was held to review the draft responses following an initial editing by a recent faculty retiree. Final revisions were made and the draft self-study was mailed to mock site visitors on December 19, 2010.
On February 17-18, 2011, a mock site visit was held with consultants who simulated the upcoming October 4-6, 2011 visit.
On August 3, the final self-study report along with supportive documentation was mailed to the site visitors in anticipation of the Oct accreditation visit. The report is available to faculty, staff and on the College academics sharepoint site: http://academics.uky.edu/Dentistry/default.aspx Feel free to log in and review the materials (requires mc\linkblue username).
