Fee:     $145 per registrant online on secure website (payment to be made by Visa or MasterCard)

After reviewing and studying the information online, the registrant must then complete and successfully pass the examination provided on the Internet when the participant chooses.  Successful completion of the exam provides eligibility to enroll in the clinical component of this course.

This course meets the educational requirements for the didactic component for certification for Kentucky dental assistants to perform coronal polishing techniques.  This course has been approved by the Kentucky Board of Dentistry for 5 hours and meets Category C requirements/Provider No. 0860.

To Register:         Access our website at www.mc.uky.edu/polish and register online

Clinical

Upon successful completion of this web-based course, the participant must successfully complete a three-hour clinical course.  The participant may contact University of Kentucky College of Dentistry’s Office of Continuing Education at (859) 323-8187 or any accredited dental institution in the state, to register for the three-hour clinical program.  Extensive hands-on experiences will provide the participant the skills to effectively and efficiently polish the coronal portion of the dentition, upgrading the value of a dental assistant as an essential member of the oral health care team.  Enrollment for the clinical program must be limited in order to maintain the prescribed instructor-student ratio required by the Kentucky Board of Dentistry.  Therefore, early enrollment is essential.

Successful completion of both the didactic course and clinical course is required before performing coronal polishing procedures.  After successfully completing both of the components, a certificate will be issued by the Kentucky Board of Dentistry verifying that the dental assistant is permitted to perform coronal polishing procedures on patients in Kentucky.  This course has been approved by the Kentucky Board of Dentistry for 3 hours and meets Category B requirements/Provider No. 0860.
