Welcome to the
Delta Dental of Kentucky Clinical Research Center also known
as the DDKCRC. This video tour will introduce you to various
personnel as well as give you a guided tour of our center.
The DDKCRC provides a state of the art facility to support
planning, execution and completion of clinical research
studies. We would like to introduce you to our Director - Dr.
John Novak.
I am Dr. John Novak. I am the Director of the Delta Dental of
Kentucky Clinical Research Center. I would like to welcome you
to this video, which will give you a video tour of the
clinical facility. Delta Dental of Kentucky Clinical Research
Center facility was established in the College of Dentistry of
University of Kentucky to provide the premises for clinical
research trials and clinical research studies. We hope that
you will consider participating in clinical research as this
will benefit mankind in the future especially the people of
Kentucky. We look forward to seeing you.
The Mission of DDKCRC is threefold: First is to provide
opportunities for patients to participate in clinical research
studies. Second is to provide a research infrastructure to
develop and train clinical research professionals, research
coordinators, and research staff. Third is to improve the oral
health and general well being of the population of Kentucky
and the Nation through the development of new healthcare
technologies and standards of care.
Hi I am Amelia and I am a registered dental hygienist with the
Delta Dental of Kentucky Clinical Research Center. I am a
treatment hygienist for one of our studies here. And this is
my operatory, where I do most of my treatments on our
subjects. We like to have people visit us and call to see what
studies are going on at the moment and if you are interested

The DDKCRC has over 2000 square feet of clinical research
space with 3 fully equipped examination rooms and dental
operatories. Each operatory has digital radiography, Periotron
for GCF and salivary measures, internet connected tablet PCs
for data entry and immediate download, and all necessary
instrumentation for clinical intervention studies.
The DDKCRC's close proximity and collaborations with UK's
General Clinical Research Center and Clinical Research
Organization provides a unique opportunity for carrying out
clinical research involving multi-disciplinary teams of
dentists, physicians, and healthcare ancillaries. DDKCRC has a
team of clinical research coordinators experienced in NIH-funded,
multidisciplinary, multi-center, clinical trials and industry
sponsored FDA phase II-IV clinical studies.
Hi, my name is Lisa and I am a registered dental hygienist. I
am a study coordinator for a gum disease study sponsored by
Collagenex. If you think or suspect that you have gum disease
or have been told that you have gum disease. We hope that you
would like to be a volunteer for one of our studies. You can
call our clinical research center and make an appointment for
a screening.
The DDKCRC is supported by a team of basic scientists in a
fully equipped core that provides opportunities for
translational research, FDA phase I studies, and laboratory
support of clinical trials.
Hi I am Dawn and I am dental hygienist at Delta Dental of
Kentucky Clinical Research Center. My role at this point is a
dental study coordinator. We actually take samples of our
patients as we see them and bring to our clinical research lab
to separate the by-products and to examine & do analysis to
make sure whether or not we can find any links between
patient’s periodontal health and their systemic health.
I am interpreter here at the dental center. We provide
services for the Spanish-speaking community here in Lexington
and we would like you to participate in the studies. This why
we offer services in interpretation, so that those with other
needs can also participate as well. Spanish
The commitment and support of Delta Dental of Kentucky and the
University of Kentucky has provided previously unavailable
opportunities for the citizens of Kentucky to participate in
outstanding clinical research trials in oral healthcare.
DDKCRC is already having an impact on the oral health and
general well being of the community through its studies of
preterm birth, gestational diabetes, cardiovascular disease,
and new treatments for oral disease. We are committed to
expanding our translational and clinical research so as to
extend the benefits of improved oral health to everyone.
