COCVD CARDIOVASCULAR RESEARCH CORE
The Cardiovascular Research Core makes use of the equipment, expertise and well established methods available in the mentors' laboratories. Current facilities include 4 Nikon Optiphot-2 microscopes equipped with brightfield, darkfield, fluorescence, and phase capabilities connected to a true color image analysis system and conventional photographic facilities; 3 Leica Jung CM 1850 cryostats; 7 Nikon SMZ-1B dissecting microscopes with photographic capabilities; 3 Diagnostic Instruments Spot and 4 DXM1200 Nikon digital cameras with multiple copies of ImagePro analysis software. In addition, we have 4 Visitech tail cuff systems for measurement of blood pressure. We also have DSI platforms and analytical processors to measure blood pressure by telemetry on 8 mice simultaneously, and have recently purchased 20 mouse telemetry implants. With his extensive expertise in cardiovascular measures, Dr. Alan Daugherty oversees the Cardiovascular Research Core.
