Biostatistics Core

The Biostatistics core provides a centralized location for statistical consultation in all areas of the COBRE-WH. Specifically, consultation is available in the areas of genomics, proteomics, experimental design, data analysis, and data management. As necessary, the core also develops new methodology related to the projects in the COBRE-WH. The core provides an independent assessment of effects in intervention studies on animals and the main hypotheses to be investigated in any observational studies. Recently, the investigators in the COBRE-WH have increasingly been utilizing genomics or proteomics methods, and the two statisticians available in the biostatistics core have extensive experience in analyzing and developing innovative new statistical methodology for these types of data. The core will also teach new investigators statistical methods common to their particular experimental paradigms, including standard endpoints, experimental protocols, and data analysis techniques.
