Telemedicine Cognitive Clinic
What Can Telemedicine Do For Me?
The Telemedicine Cognitive Clinic at UK is here to help even if you live in remote areas of Kentucky, or surrounding states...
- Lets you use the same UK doctors who have been diagnosing and treating changes in memory and thinking for more than 25 years and without traveling to Lexington. Many individuals find it difficult to travel to Lexington for a doctor's appointment.
- Telemedicine uses videoconference systems so you and the doctor can see and talk with each other as if you were in the same room.
- Telemedicine helps us bring the expertise and support of the UK Alzheimer's Disease Center and the Sanders-Brown Center on Aging to you in your own hometown.
- Safe and effective treatments exist and are available, and WE CAN HELP! Remember, memory loss is NOT a part of normal aging.
- Call today for an appointment for yourself or a loved one (859) 257-6404
Is an Evaluation Appropriate for Me?
- If you have concerns about changes in your memory or a loved one's, you should call for an appointment today!
- Early memory decline may mean you are slowly developing Alzheimer's disease, or it may mean you have another medical condition that needs to be treated.
- Effective treatments are available for these conditions.
- The earlier treatment is started, the greater the benefit in delaying disability and maintaining your quality of life.
- If you or a loved one are experiencing memory decline, the telemedicine cognitive clinic is the right choice for you!
What Will Happen at My Appointment?
- You will meet a nurse at a medical center in your local community who will be with you during your visit, which will be about 1 hour.
- You will be seated in front of a camera and television that will allow you to see and talk to the doctor.
- The doctor will listen to your problems and perform some memory and thinking testing, and the nurse will help to examine you while the doctor watches.
- The doctor will talk to you about the possible causes of your difficulties, and will recommend appropriate treatment for your problems.
