What Happens at My Visit?

The Evaluation*...

  1. Each evaluation includes comprehensive evaluation of memory and thinking abilities (neuropsychological testing, 3-4 hours)
  2. A laboratory workup to identify reversible medical causes of memory and thinking problems that might be confused with Alzheimer's disease (15 minutes in lab)
  3. A brain imaging study to look for strokes, tumors, subdural hematoma, normal pressure hydrocephalus, or atrophy (brain shrinkage). This can help with the diagnosis and the development of an effective treatment plan (1-2 hours)
  4. This evaluation takes place over 2-3 visits to UK, and culminates in an evaluation by a trained neurologist in the area of memory and thinking disorders, and the information is combined to develop an effective treatment plan

We can help make a first-time diagnosis, evaluate the accuracy of a previous diagnosis, ensure that current treatment is appropriate and optimal, help to identify ongoing research projects, or enroll you in ongoing projects focused on finding cures for Alzheimer's disease and related disorders.**
