Dr. Linda Van Eldik named as the new Director of the Sanders-Brown Center on Aging

The University of Kentucky landed another high-profile researcher to head up one of its major medical divisions, the Sanders-Brown Center on Aging. She succeeds Dr. William R. Markesbery, who passed away on January 30th, 2010. Dr. Van Eldik said she is excited and honored to head up what she called “the premier center on Aging in the world.” Dr. Van Eldik served as the associate director of Northwestern University's Cognitive Neurology and Alzheimer's Disease Center in Chicago. Van Eldik, a Florida native, received her undergraduate degree at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Mich., and her doctorate at Duke University in 1977. Dr. Van Eldik brings to Lexington her research into degenerative brain disorders and diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease. Dr. Van Eldik began her tenure at the Center on Aging on February 1, 2010
