There are many volunteer opportunities available through the Volunteer Office at University of Kentucky's Children's Hospital. These include working directly with pediatric patients from babies thru teens with many different diagnoses. The Child Life Specialist coordinates the volunteers and matches them with patients according to what they are able to do at that time during their hospital stay. The volunteers read to the patients, take them to the playroom, play games at the bedside, and even walk or ride them around the hall. Also, the computer room and children's library are available for the volunteers to play and work with the patients. These activities not only offer a diversion for the patients but a break for their parents or family to get away for an hour or so. Thus, the volunteers are very important to the patients and families in the Children's Hospital with enhancing their experience.

To volunteer, please contact the Volunteer Office at University of Kentucky Hospital at (859) 323-6023 for further information. Opportunities are open to adults, college students, and teens (ages 14-17,summer only).

There are also volunteer opportunities to work with the Children's Miracle Network (CMN) Office, the fund raising arm of the Children's Hospital. Those who wish to participate in fund raising activities may contact the CMN office at (859) 257-1121.
