DIVISION OF PEDIATRIC
CARDIOLOGY
The Division of Pediatric Cardiology has four full-time faculty members.
In addition, a patient care coordinator and an administrative assistant
help make this busy clinical
service function efficiently.
About 2,900 outpatients, both children and adults, with congenital
heart disease are seen yearly at Kentucky Clinic and Kentucky Clinic
South, and about 800 are seen at
12 regional
heart clinics held in rural
health departments. Full ranges of diagnostic and therapeutic modalities
are available. Over 100 children undergo heart surgery annually.
Our team of board-certified pediatric cardiologists at the University
of
Kentucky Chandler Medical Center provides both inpatient and outpatient
diagnostic and treatment services for children with suspected or diagnosed
congenital or acquired heart disease and heart defects. The latest
treatments and technologies are available to your patient close
to home.
Some
of the defects for which the UK Pediatric Cardiology team
offers non-surgical treatment include:
- ASD
and PDA closure
- aortic
and pulmonary valve dilation
- coarctation
and pulmonary artery stenting
We
also offer:

detection (holter, event recorders)
- diagnostic
cardiac catheterization
- echocardiography
(including fetal)
- exercise
testing
- autonomic
function studies (tilt testing)
