It takes a special person to be a nurse at UK Children's Hospital. Whether our nurses are providing direct patient care or participating in one of the many support or administrative roles, they want to make a difference in the lives of others.
It is the goal of nursing in the UK Children's Hospital to give compassionate, caring and expert care. The family is the most important structure in the life of the child. It is the role of the nurse to promote optimum family functioning. Family-centered care provides the structure for planning the best way to assist each child and family. Parents are encouraged to stay with their child and participate, to the best of their ability, in their child's care. Information about health care and child development are incorporated into each child's plan of care, and strategies are planned for the most effective and efficient way to facilitate learning by the child and family.
Nursing works with a variety of services to provide coordinated, comprehensive and highly technical care.
Our nurses also participate in clinical research projects and studies.
