Purpose of the Conference
The University of Kentucky Academic Medical Center invites you to attend the annual multidisciplinary conference for community and academic medical center educators and researchers. This conference will advance healthcare by strengthening university-community partnerships in education and research. It will provide important information and offer a forum for dialogue between campus and community-based health professionals in order to enhance community-campus engagement. The conference will address issues pertinent to the education of health professions students in the community as well as partnerships for translational research.
Conference Objectives
The conference objectives are:
· to further integrate community-based faculty into the academic process · to strengthen educational and research partnerships among programs and between campus and community-based faculty · to address opportunities and challenges of educational and research collaborations in community settings · to develop new skills in areas of interest related to improving instruction in community-based sites · to develop new skills in areas of interest related to advancing research in community-based practices
Target Audience
Health professionals who provide clinical education and/or participate in community-campus collaborative research, Medical Center administration, faculty and professional staff and regional Area Health Education Center staff.
Program Site
The conference will take place at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Lexington, KY. Detailed directions to the hotel will be mailed with the program confirmation.
Registration
There is no registration fee for this program. You are invited to attend as a guest of the University of Kentucky because of the important teaching and/or research role that you serve. We ask that you please respond promptly to this invitation indicating whether you will attend. A registration form and return envelope are enclosed. Hotel Accommodations
A block of rooms has been reserved at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on Friday, April 24, for out of town participants. As a guest of the University of Kentucky Community-based Faculty Program there will be no room charge (incidental charges such as room service and telephone calls are the responsibility of the guest). Registration staff will make a reservation for conference attendees as indicated on the enclosed reservation form and through the online registration process. To guarantee a room, reservations must be made by Friday, April 10, 2009.
