Library (859-323-5300).
UK Libraries Proxy Server
- Accessing
Major Information
Resources from Remote Locations
What is a Proxy Server (and how can it help you)
The University of Kentucky has purchased a proxy server that will
permit off-campus access to IP-restricted products. Most license
agreements for use of electronic information products require that access
to the product be limited to a registered user group. Access is typically
controlled by password protection or IP restriction to campus computers.
The proxy server allows authorized UK users to connect to IP-restricted
products from their home or office using an internet service provider
(ISP). Several major Health-Related
Resources are currently available via Proxy server. A list of the
major resources is available by clicking HERE.
Who is eligible to use the Proxy Server
All current UK faculty, students, and staff are eligible to use the
proxy server. An active UK library card showing status as current UK
faculty member, staff member, or student is required for use of the proxy
server. The Medical Center Library can issue a library card to any UK
faculty, student, or staff member who presents a current UK identification
card at the library circulation desk. Contact the library if your card has
been blocked for reasons such as overdue fines.
Community-Based Faculty at off-campus locations can fill out
a web patron registration form or contact the Medical Center Library
Circulation Desk at 859-323-5309 to have the form faxed or mailed. The
online form also can be accessed at the following URL:
