Community-based faculty who are actively engaged in teaching students
can receive continuing education in two ways.
first you are invited to attend the Annual Community-based Faculty
Conference held each Spring in Lexington. Second, you can receive a $300
credit toward a CE offering provided by the UK office of Continuing
Education. Details for each follow.
Annual Conference: Every Spring, the Community-based Faculty
Program invites community faculty to
participate the annual conference - Preparing Health
Professionals for the 21st Century. Participants are provided free
continuing education credit in addition to overnight accommodations
and an evening event to thank you for your support of UK's health
professions education mission
Continuing Education Credit:
Community-based faculty who teach at least one student in an academic
year will receive a $300 credit which can be used to cover part of the
cost of a more expensive course or to pay for one or more less expensive
courses. In order to comply with laws that govern
relationships between health care providers, the Continuing Medical
Education (CME) tuition credit available annually to our voluntary
faculty who have taken a student during the preceding academic year is
capped at three hundred dollars ($300). We value your participation in
our program and, to protect you, want to make every effort to assure
that our programs remain compliant.

Bookstores: Discounts on merchandise are available to faculty and staff, with
a valid University Identification Card.
UK Employee Discount Program:
Participating
merchants throughout the state offer discounts and
other incentives to faculty. Click on this site for a complete list of participating

Faculty, you can access UK electronic information recourses. To

Program office to request a UK "Active Directory ' account. The
information you will need includes: a) your name complete with middle
initial, b) your date of birth, and c) a current email address. You can

Once your account is created, we will

Membership is open to anyone affiliated with the University upon presentation of a valid
identification card, deposit of at least $25.00 into a new account, and payment of a
nominal membership fee.

Otis A. Singletary Center for the Arts -

This facility, in which more than 300 public performances are presented each year,
features a 1,477 seat concert hall, a 388 seat recital hall and the University of Kentucky
Art Museum. One highlight of the Center season is the University Artist Series, which
brings to campus world-renowned performers.Voluntary faculty are entitled to a discount on Artist Series Subscriptions and on the
UK Theater Series.

The center (510 Rose Street) houses the University
of Kentucky Faculty Club, a private operation organized for the
enhancement of the social, recreational and intellectual environment
of its membership. The club includes a 125-seat main dining room, a
pub seven rooms for catered events, a billiard room, library and
special President's Room dining area. Complete food and beverage
services are available seven days a week for members' enjoyment.
Membership is open to many persons affiliated with the University
Membership fees apply for all faculty.

Spindletop Hall

Faculty and staff are eligible for membership in the Spindletop Hall Faculty, Staff and
Alumni Club (located several miles north of Lexington on Iron Works Pike). Facilities
include a club house for dining and social functions, tennis courts, swimming pools and
picnic grounds. Special activities are scheduled for members throughout the year, except
in January when the club is closed. Members receive a monthly calendar of scheduled
events. Please note that non-resident memberships with reduced annual fees are available
to people living more than 65 miles away. For further information, contact Terry Wainscott

Aerobics, basketball, fencing, jogging, karate and volleyball facilities are available
in Alumni Gym, located in the Student Center at the corner of Limestone and Euclid Streets.

Campus

The Campus Recreation Department (145 Seaton Building), provides a wide range of
recreational programs and activities for students, faculty and staff. Most recreational
facilities must be reserved in advance. A valid University Identification Card is required
for participation.

Seaton Center - (859 257-3928)

Aerobics, badminton, basketball, conditioning, gymnastics, handball, jogging,
racquetball, sauna, squash, volleyball, weight training, wrestling, and locker facilities
are available in the Seaton Building. Racquetball and handball courts can be reserved by
phone. Please note that reservations are taken two days in advance and equipment rental is
available at Seaton Center.

A seven-acre picnic and recreation area (located about eight miles from campus off Mount
Horeb Pike) may be reserved by students, student organizations, faculty or staff. A small
deposit is required.

Cooper Drive Picnic Area

An area located adjacent to the Seaton Center on Cooper Drive is available for student,
faculty and staff use without prior reservations.

Fishing Permits - (859-257-7570)

Two hundred free fishing permits are issued biannually for Lake Mildred (Spindletop
Farm) and Lake Carnico (located n Carlisle, Kentucky). Applications are available in Room
N3, Agricultural Science Center North, or by calling the above number. Permits are
available for six-month increments on January 1 and July 1 of each calendar year.

College of Fine Arts Programs -
(859-257-1707) The college offers well-rounded and expanding programs of public
exhibitions and performances presented by student, faculty and guest artists in art, music
and theater. These arts events are presented on campus, in the Lexington community and
throughout the commonwealth. In addition the college provides special arts programs for
the elderly and the handicapped and confined, as well as for public school students,
community centers, and many other agencies and organizations.

Department of Art -
(859-257-8151) Special lectures and programs are offered throughout the year, as well as a full series of exhibitions in two galleries: the
Barnhart Gallery in the Reynolds Building and the Center for Contemporary Arts in the Fine Arts
Building.

School of Music -
(859-257-4900) A wide variety of musical performances is presented each year, such as student and faculty recitals and concerts by faculty
groups and student musical organizations. Individual faculty recitals, faculty ensemble
concerts and concerts by student organizations are all open to the public.

Department of Theater -
(859-257-3297) A full season of plays usually consists of six to eight different
productions, including full-length dramas and short plays. The University of Kentucky
Theater also stages informal outdoor performances, Children's Theater productions and
other special theater experiences.

Museum of Anthropology - (859-257-7112) Founded in 1931, the
museum (201 Lafferty Hall) offers current exhibits and houses a permanent display,
"Cultural History of Kentucky." The museum is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.,
Monday through Friday.

University of Kentucky Art Museum - (859-257-5716) The museum
(125 Center for the Arts) maintains a fairly large and growing collection of drawings,
paintings, photographs and sculptures. Works in storage are easily accessible by
appointment. The museum is open from noon to 5:00 p.m. daily except Mondays and University
holidays.

Center for Contemporary Art - (859-257-8148) The Center for
Contemporary Art (first floor, Fine Arts Building) displays artworks by faculty, students
and outside exhibitors.

Barnhart Gallery - (859-257-2727) This gallery (Reynolds
Building on South Broadway) contains exhibits from current B.A. and B.A.-degree candidates.

Rasdall Gallery - (859-257-8867) This gallery (Second Floor,
Student Center) offers student, faculty, local and traveling exhibits arranged by a
student committee of the Student Activities Board. Recreational and Social Services

Student Activities Board Programs - (859-257-8867) The Student
Activities Board (SAB) coordinates and develops programs for the campus and community to
promote the performing and visual arts. A highlight of each semester is a film series
shown regularly in the Student Center Worsham Theater on weekends and weekday evenings.
SAB brings both nationally-known and local or experimental theater, dance and performing
arts groups to the University community. Big-name groups are booked for major concerts. A
jazz series is one of the many other special events presented throughout the year. Call

All Voluntary Faculty can have their
parking tickets validated for the Kentucky Clinic
parking garage at the AHEC office
located at 138 Leader Avenue. Please note that on-campus parking is very limited and not recommended.
