Heart Failure Service

The Heart Transplantation and Heart Failure service is led by Dr. Navin Rajagopalan and Dr. Charles Hoopes. Over the past year under their leadership, the mechanical circulatory support program at University of Kentucky has flourished. In Feb 2012, the first Total Artificial Heart (SynCardia) in the state was implanted at the University of Kentucky. Fellows on the rotation will have experience in the evaluation of patients for heart transplant and caring for patients with advanced heart failure, ventricular assist devices and heart transplants.
