About the COBRE Pilot Grant Program:
The University of Kentucky Center in Biomedical Excellence (COBRE) in the Molecular Basis of Human Disease will make available annually two pilot research grants. These pilot grants are intended to assist young investigators or investigators changing fields to generate sufficient data to apply for extramural funding.  They are awarded in the amount of up to $50,000 per year for two years.

Who is eligible to receive a COBRE pilot grant?:
To be eligible for these pilot grants, the individual cannot have or have had an RO1 type NIH grant or the equivalent NSF grant.  Individuals who have or have had other types of grants such as NIH K or R21 awards or association or foundation awards are eligible.

Application Form:
You can obtain the pilot grant application form at the COBRE in the Molecular Basis of Human Disease website: http://www.mc.uky.edu/biochemistry/cobre/forms.asp. An electronic version of the completed forms and any questions should be sent via email to mnfont2@uky.edu.  You do not need IRB or IACUC approvals at the time of submission, but will need these before funding.
