Research Interests

Dr. Bruemmer's research interest is in the transcriptional control of cell proliferation by nuclear hormone receptors in vascular biology and adipose tissue. In particular, he studies the regulation of telomerase as a transcriptional target for nuclear receptors and its function in the control of cellular proliferation during vascular remodeling and adipose tissue aging. Dr. Bruemmer is funded by the NIH/NHLBI, the American Diabetes Association, the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and through direct fellowship stipends by the American Heart Association.
