Division of Athletic Training

Prospective Students

Dear Student,

Thanks for your interest in our two-year Master’s degree program in Athletic Training!

Please find below a series of links that contain instructions and application materials related to our program area. Please follow the link to The Graduate School to Apply Online.

You should be able to find answers to most of your questions in the materials on-line. If not, please e-mail me with your specific request and provide a phone number where I can reach you.

We will be filling approximately 8-10 graduate assistant positions next year. There will be several on-site assistantships working at the University of Kentucky and several off-site assistantships at local Colleges and High Schools, which include: UK Football, UK Softball, UK Gymnastics, UK Track & Field, Asbury College, Fayette county, & Centre College.

An assistantship includes a minimum of $8,000.00 stipend, health insurance, and tuition.

Deadline for application materials to be submitted to the University of Kentucky is January 30, 2015. All application materials MUST be received prior to February 1, 2015 in order to be eligible for full funding opportunities. The primary duties of an assistantship include acting as the athletic trainer for a team at the University of Kentucky or local college or High School. Assistantships are provided for students who wish to pursue advanced graduate studies in the post professional educational program in athletic training, we do not currently have the luxury to provide assistantships for other areas of study, e.g., education, sport management or exercise physiology. We do not determine team or institution assignments until after the academic application process is completed.

We encourage candidates to submit materials in the fall of 2014. We will begin inviting candidates for on-site interviews starting in early January. We typically complete the application process by mid-February. Taking into consideration the complexity of scheduling on-site interviews we will ask candidates to be prepared to make a decision within 7 days of being on campus, unless they communicate with us that they have another commitment.

Please call on me if you have any additional questions not covered above. We look forward to receiving your materials and thank you for your interest in our advanced post-professional education program.

Best Regards,
