The master’s degree program in Athletic Training (AT) is designed to accommodate both NATA certified athletic trainers and NATA “certification eligible” athletic trainers. The Post-Professional Program in Athletic Training represents the cooperative actions of the (1) UK College of Health Sciences (2) UK Department of Athletics (3) UK Sports Medicine Center located in the UK Chandler Medical Center, and (4) the Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion located in the College of Education. Course work and clinical experiences are designed to develop skills necessary to conduct research and increase proficiency in sports injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation. It is a goal that graduates become: critical consumers of research and accepted clinical practices, advanced health care providers, and leaders in the clinical, educational, and research endeavors of the profession.
The Division of Athletic Training is housed in the College of Health Sciences in the Department of Rehabilitation Science within the UK Chandler Medical Center. Course work is provided through the Colleges of Health Sciences and Education. Graduate assistantships are available on a competitive basis. Funding for the assistantships is provided through the UK Department of Athletics and local Sports Medicine Clinics and High Schools.
The Master’s of Science (MS) degree will be awarded
through the College of Health Sciences.
