AHEC Health Careers Program
To Be Held At the Whitesburg ARH Hospital
June 16 - 18, 2009
Southeast Kentucky Area Health Education Center (SE AHEC) in conjunction with
Southeast
Kentucky Community and Technical College will be hosting a 3- day Summer Scrubs
Camp
to be held at the Whitesburg ARH Hospital.
The Letcher County Scrubs Camp will introduce incoming 8th grade Students to a
variety of
Health Careers. Students will have the opportunity to observe and shadow health
care
professionals at work; participate in a variety of hands on health related
activities;
tour the Whitesburg ARH Hospital; and if everything goes as planned,
students should even get the opportunity to participate in
an
interactive live surgery project hosted by the
University of Kentucky Telemedicine Program.
Eligibility
Current Letcher or Surrounding County, 7th Grade Student
interesting in pursuing a career in Healthcare
Must have a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 Scale
