The University Physicians at Kentucky Clinic Main, Kentucky Clinic South, Kentucky Clinic North, and Kentucky Clinic East are happy to provide all of your primary care needs.  Hours of operation are usually from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, with some evening hours in the UK Pediatric Twilight Clinic at Kentucky Clinic Main.. 

A. UK Health Connection

UK Health Connection provides consumer access for information, directions, appointments, screenings and registrations by calling 859-257-1000 or toll free 1-800-888-5533.

  • Staffed 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturdays.
  • Provides consumers easy access to UK HealthCare system.
  • Facilitates all patient appointments, class registrations and health screenings.
  • All requests for advertised health information is fulfilled through Health Connection.
  • Handles UKHC Web site consumer requests.
  • Triages calls from Markey Cancer Center chemotherapy outpatients who have medical requests and concerns.

UK Children’s Triage
This after-hours, weekend and holiday nurse triage service covers calls for pediatricians at UK and several contracted community pediatric physician groups in the Bluegrass regional area.

  • “After-hours” are Monday through Friday 5 p.m.-8 a.m. and 24- hour coverage weekends and holidays.
  • Telephone triage advice is provided by specially trained registered nurses using clinically proven algorithm protocols created by Barton Schmitt, MD.
  • All triaged call transactions are entered into a database and then faxed to the pediatric patients’ primary care physician.

B. Family Practice

The Department of Family Practice conducts a primary care practice in family medicine at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center.  The staff offers preventive and continuous health care for the whole family, providing the entire spectrum of general medical services, supported by the specialized diagnostic and treatment services of UK Chandler Medical Center.

Routine Care
To arrange an appointment, you may call our direct number at (859) 323-6371.   You also may call UK Health Connection at
859-257-1000 or toll free 1-800-888-5533,  For your first visit, you will need to fill out a questionnaire, so we suggest your arrive 15 minutes before your appointment. We encourage you to make a list of questions for your physician before you visit so that all of your concerns may be addressed. It is important that you bring all of your medications to each visit and request any refills at the time of your appointment. If you need to cancel your appointment, please notify our office as soon as possible so that your time slot may be made available to other patients. Our office hours 
are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Family Practice Clinic is located in the Kentucky Clinic on the 3rd floor in Wing D. Our physicians recommend you schedule an initial health maintenance visit with us to review your needs for health promotion and disease prevention.

Urgent Care
If you have an urgent problem that needs immediate attention, we will make every effort to have you seen by your PCP the same day if possible. If your PCP is not available on that day, your call is given to the triage nurse to contact you back and discuss your needs. If you have an urgent situation after hours, please call our answering service at (859) 323-6371. One of our doctors is on call at all times should an urgent situation arise.

C. Internal Medicine

The Division of General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics provides diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients from adolescence through geriatrics. We specialize in primary care, wellness and prevention, and care of patients with chronic medical conditions. When necessary, faculty members coordinate the treatment of patients across specialties and subspecialties.
As your primary care physician, your internist will provide comprehensive medical care, including prevention and healthy lifestyle promotion, screening and immunizations, as well as diagnosis and treatment of your acute and chronic medical problems.  Your doctor will also coordinate referrals to specialists, arrange for specialized testing and hospitalizations when needed.

To arrange an appointment, you may call our direct number at (859) 323-0303.  Our office hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.   The Internal Medicine Clinic is located in the Kentucky Clinic on the 1st floor in Wing D.

Urgent Care

D. Kentucky Clinic North

Routine and Urgent Care

The physicians and staff of Kentucky Clinic North provide both routine and urgent care.  Located downtown, Kentucky Clinic North serves as a primary care clinic for Lexington’s north side. It is located at 217 Elm Tree Lane, and convenient, free parking is available.  Hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.   Patients are seen by appointment by calling (859) 257-8801, or by calling the UK Health Connection at (859) 257-1000.

E. Kentucky Clinic South
 

Kentucky Clinic South is an off-campus facility that extends our reach of health care to Kentuckians. The physicians and staff of Kentucky Clinic South provide same-day care to the clinic’s patient population when they are ill. The physicians have dedicated times for same-day visits, and work in as many patients as possible every day. There are two physician assistants who have their afternoons blocked for same-day sick visits.

Hours of operation are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to allow time to register. Please provide 24-hour notice of cancellation. Ample free parking is available in front of the building.

F. Pediatrics

The General Pediatrics Division offers primary, preventive, and consultative health care to patients ranging in age from birth to adolescence. The General Pediatrics faculty offers diagnosis and treatment for acute, recurrent, or persistent symptoms and disorders, as well as special programs for teens.

 

Specialties: acute and chronic childhood diseases, adolescent medicine, child development, childhood abuse including sexual abuse, nutrition, preventive health, school health

G. Pediatric Twilight Clinic

The Pediatric Twilight Clinic offers after-hours urgent, non-emergent, pediatric care by appointment only. For appointments call (859) 257-6730.  Appointments can not be made until after 3:00 pm the day you will be seen.  The clinic is located on the Second floor of the Kentucky Clinic.   Hours of operation: Monday through Friday,  5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.  Saturday and Sunday,  12:00 noon – 5:00 p.m.

H. Urgent Treatment Centers - Lexington & Nicholasville

If you or a family member needs care for an acute condition, such as a minor injury, the sudden onset of an illness, or acute pain, you may seek care at a participating urgent care provider for a $15 co-payment.   Urgent care providers include those listed below:
