UK Center for Excellence in Rural Health-Hazard Celebrates National Nurses WeekHAZARD, Ky. (May 13, 2011) − The University of Kentucky Center for Excellence in Rural Health-Hazard recently honored its staff and clinical nurses as part of National Nurses Week. Here, the Center’s interim director, Fran Feltner − herself a registered nurse who also has earned a master of science degree in nursing − presents Asiatic lilies to nurses within the UK HealthCare North Fork Valley Community Health Center, top, and UK’s Hazard-based HeartHealth program. Nurses at the UK HealthCare June Buchanan Clinic, located in Hindman, also were recognized. The American Nurses Association notes that National Nurses Week is celebrated annually from May 6, also known as National Nurses Day, through May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.
