Appalachian Kentucky Bridges to Success
The program, which began July 2008, will include instruction and experience to increase participants’ awareness of health care career options, as well as mentoring and support in applying to transfer from community college to four-year academic institutions. Current plans also call for assessment of participants’ progress and follow-up after transfer from the community college. Specific aims of the initiative include:
Students will be assigned a mentor, receive career and transfer counseling, take classes, and be involved in research experiences, as well as receive individual tutoring and other assistance. Call for Mentors − The Appalachian Kentucky Bridges to Success program is seeking volunteers to become mentors to a group of Hazard Community & Technical College Students with an interest in behavioral and biomedical science related fields.
