International Visitors Tour Perry County Health Care Organizations

Photo of international visitorsHAZARD, Ky. (March 4, 2009) − The University of Kentucky Center for Excellence in Rural Health-Hazard on March 2 hosted four international health care officials. The visitors − two from Afghanistan, one from Kazakhstan and one from Pakistan − were in Kentucky for six days seeking to learn about the United States’ women’s health programs. While at the Center, the visitors toured the UK North Fork Valley Community Health Center and Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, and learned about the Kentucky Homeplace and Centering Pregnancy® programs. Here, the international visitors and their tour guides are shown with Dr. Baretta R. Casey, director of the UK Center for Excellence in Rural Health-Hazard (back row, second from right), and her administrative assistant, Paula Keyes (front row, far left). Other Perry County organizations that were visited included the Hazard ARH Regional Medical Center, the Kentucky River District Health Department and the UK Homeplace Clinic at Ary. The UK Center for Excellence in Rural Health-Hazard, located at 750 Morton Blvd. in Hazard, works to improve the health of rural Kentuckians through education, research, health care services and community engagement. For more information about the Center and its programs, you may call (606) 439−3557 or 1−800−851−7512.
