Knott County Student Wins Football From UK Clinic

Football winnerHAZARD, Ky. (September 10, 2009) − Mitchell Pollard, 9, a student at Hindman Elementary School, recently won a football signed by University of Kentucky football coach Rich Brooks. Pollard is the son of Knott County Central High School Principal Bobby Pollard and Alice Lloyd College business professor Lenore Pollard. Presenting the football to Pollard is Dr. Jamie Varney, medical director of the UK North Fork Valley Community Health Center, who attended Back-to-School bashes in Knott and Perry counties and registered students for a drawing. In addition to his management role, Varney also provides sports medicine services at the UK North Fork Valley Community Health Center, located at 750 Morton Blvd. in Hazard. The clinic offers primary care, behavioral and oral health services to residents of Perry and surrounding counties. As a federally funded health center, it is required to deliver care regardless of patients’ ability to pay, and charges for services are based on patients’ respective income levels. For additional information, or to schedule an appointment, you may call (606) 439-1559 or 1-800-851-7512.
