Residents at UK are provided with ample opportunities—and are strongly encouraged—to engage in scholarly activities. Research projects have ranged from comprehensive drug utilization reviews to retrospective reviews of clinical outcomes to nationwide surveys. Submission for publication is expected at the completion of the project. Support from colleagues, preceptors, and the college provide residents opportunities to share their results at national meetings (ASHP Midyear Meeting, ACCP, HOPA, etc.). Residents often partner with preceptors or faculty based in the college of pharmacy, who are largely regarded as experts in their respective fields.
