PGY1 Pharmacy Residency
PGY1 program is recipient of the 2007 ASHP Foundation Pharmacy Residency Excellence Award. Core learning experiences include ambulatory care, medical/surgical critical care, internal medicine, oncology, pediatrics and practice leadership. Electives include emergency medicine, infectious diseases, nutrition and solid organ transplant. Residents participate in 24-hour clinical services through an in-house on-call program. While the program focuses on enhancing patient care skills, residents are encouraged to develop their communication skills by teaching PharmD students in classroom lectures, pharmacotherapy breakout groups, and clinical clerkships. An AACP award-winning certificate program in scholarship and teaching exposes residents to teaching philosophies, innovative teaching techniques, and accreditation standards. Research is readily available and required throughout the program in each resident's area of interest. The program encourages residents the flexibility to pursue their personal interests while becoming well-rounded in providing pharmaceutical care. ASHP-accredited PGY2 residencies are available in Ambulatory Care, Critical Care, Infectious Diseases, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Oncology are available upon completion of the pharmacy practice residency. Residencies in Cardiology and Practice Leadership are also available.
