9/19/11 - Welcome new Enterprise Director of Pharmacy: Gary Johnson, PharmD, MHA
Dr. Johnson, originally from West Virginia, recently assumed his new role as Enterprise Director of Pharmacy Services and Chief Pharmacy Officer. He will manage Pharmacy Services throughout the health system, which will include UK Chandler Medical Center, Good Samaritan Hospital and the expanding network of Ambulatory Pharmacy Services. Prior to joining UK Healthcare, he served as the Director of Pharmacy Services at the University of Virginia Health System where he also began bridging the gap between UVA and the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy by implementing a satellite School of Pharmacy at UVA. Other accomplishments include expanding the size and scope of clinical services, as well as the residency programs, adding 40 FTE's, and implementing a new CPOE system, bar code medication administration, and eMAR technologies.
Additionally, he has worked for Talyst, Inc., Parkview Health System, and the University Hospital’s of Kansas and Cincinnati, as well as Emory Health System. As evidenced by his diverse and strong work background, Dr. Johnson will bring many skill sets to UK HealthCare and help to push our Pharmacy Services to the next level!
