PGY2 Cardiology Residency

The cardiology residency is a one-year specialty residency that offers in-depth experience in all areas of cardiovascular medicine including cardiology, electrophysiology, cardiothoracic surgery, medicine (intensive care and acute care), coronary intensive care, and solid organ transplantation. The primary emphasis of the program is to develop clinicians with expertise in the care of cardiology patients. Residents completing the program are expected to demonstrate competency in the areas of contemporary pharmacy practice, written and oral communication, teaching and clinical research.
The cardiology residents participate in clinical research activities that are presented at a national meeting and submitted for publication.  The program is affiliated with a nationally recognized college of pharmacy which provides residents with opportunities to engage in educational activities including precepting Doctor of Pharmacy students, facilitating group discussions and didactic lectures through the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Certificate Program, in addition to providing continuing education for other healthcare practitioners.
