Ecuador Trip

While in Ecuador we held four clinic days in several locations including the Centro Medico Hombro a Hombro Clinic in Santo Domingo, Tsachilla Indian communities near Santo Domingo, and two small villages near Tabacundo. We were also able to visit two pediatric rehabilitation centers in Santo Domingo during our time there, and get a feel for how PT, as well as OT and speech therapy are done in Ecuador. There is hope that in the future, partnerships will be made with these two rehab centers, and that physical therapists at UK be able to offer them assistance with obtaining equipment and other resources.

We also had some time for sightseeing. We visited markets in Otavalo and Cotacachi and the sun dial in Cayambe that marks the Equator. We hiked, rafted, and zip-lined in Mindo and also toured in Quito.
