Clinical Education Courses

 

Clerkships

Early clinical experiences completed during the second year of the physical therapy curriculum.

Locations Kentucky and contiguous states
Types of PT settings Acute care hospitals, outpatient clinics
Clerkship I 5 afternoons (16 hours) in groups of 2-3 students — Fall year 2
Clerkship II 4 weeks (160 hours) — Spring year 2
 

Internships

Later clinical experiences, when more classroom education is complete.

Locations Kentucky and 28 other states, England and Australia for selected students and selected courses.
Types of PT settings Acute care hospitals, outpatient clinics, rehabilitation centers, subacute rehabilitation, nursing home rehabilitation, pediatric facilities, and combinations of the above.
Internship I 6 weeks / 240 hours — Summer year 2
Internship II 8 weeks / 320 hours —Fall year 3
Internship III 8 weeks / 320 hours — Spring year 3
Internship IV 10 weeks / 400 hours — Summer year 3 (final semester)
Total full time experiences 36 weeks
