Laurie Nichols joined the Cardinal Hill/University of Kentucky Stroke and Spinal Cord Research Program part time in August, 2008. She continues to provide outpatient and home care occupational therapy services within Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital, where she has been employed for 15 years.
Laurie received her B.S. with a major in Occupational Therapy in 1978 from Western Michigan University. In her years of practice she has provided occupational therapy in acute care, home care, inpatient, and outpatient rehabilitation for pediatric to geriatric individuals. She has practiced in Indiana, Washington, and Kentucky.
She has continued her education with course certification in neurodevelopmental techniques for stroke patients, and lymphedema. Laurie is active as a guest lecturer and mentor to other occupational therapists and students. She has a special interest in optimal rehabilitation/ motor recovery for the neurologically impaired.
Laurie has a college age son and daughter. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, volunteering in church activities, reading, and travel.
