Physician Assistant Studies

The University of Kentucky physician assistant program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). The Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies degree is conferred by the UK Graduate School for students at the UK Lexington campus and at the rural campus located on the campus of Morehead State University. Graduates are eligible to take the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination. After successful completion of the examination, they are eligible for state certification and licensure to practice as certified physician assistants.

The PA Class of 2011 sponsored the second annual Chick-fil-A Physician Assistant Day 5K/1-Mile Fun Walk/Cornhole Tournament, held on September 12, 2009 at the UK Coldstream Park. The class sought to promote the physician assistant profession within the community in preparation for October 6, National Physician Assistant Day.

Admissions Information

The Central Application Service for Physician Assistants (CASPA) will open for applications on April 15, 2009. Please refer to out Admission Criteria page and FAQ page for more information on completing your application.  The deadline for application for admission in January 2010 was June 15, 2009.

If you are interested in seeking admissions to our program for January 2011, please periodically review this page for updates. Similar to the application schedule for 2010 admissions, CASPA applications for January 2011 matriculation will open approximately April 15, 2010 and deadline for application will be approximately June 15, 2010.

General PA Information Sessions
are scheduled for the upcoming dates:

  • November 6, 2009: CTW 411, 1-3 p.m.
  • December 4, 2009: CTW 218, 1-3 p.m.
  • January 8, 2010: CTW 127 (The Commons), 1-3 p.m.
  • February 5, 2010: CTW 127 (The Commons), 1-3 p.m.
  • March 5, 2010: CTW 405, 1-3 p.m.
  • April 2, 2010: CTW 127 (The Commons), 1-3 p.m.

These Information Sessions are informal, consisting largely of question/answer sessions. No reservations are required, and all regular sessions are held in the College of Health Sciences (CHS) Building, 900 S. Limestone, Lexington, KY 40536. (see Campus Map). SPECIAL MOREHEAD CAMPUS INFORMATION SESSIONS

All these sessions will be at Morehead State University - Room 430 Reed Hall (see map of MSU campus, or call/e-mail Staci Mynhier at 606-783-2636 for directions, or if you have any other questions). All these sessions last approximately two hours.
