Graduate Student Admissions and Progression Committee
Functions
- Reviews procedures for
admission and progression of students in the graduate
program and recommends changes when appropriate.
- Reviews petitions and
faculty recommendations in regard to admission and
progression of students and makes appropriate
recommendations.
- Reviews those students
with unsatisfactory academic performance and recommends
action.
- Based on established
criteria, screens students for awards.
- Seeks input from the
appropriate assistant dean and designated faculty regarding
student petitions.
- Implements the evaluation
responsibilities listed in the College of Nursing Evaluation
Plan.
- Makes recommendations to
faculty based on program evaluation.
- Evaluates the usefulness
of the College of Nursing Evaluation Plan in relation to
GSAPC and recommends revisions in the plan as needed.
Membership
- Four College of Nursing
faculty members elected from the faculty, two faculty with
full membership in the Graduate School, one with associate
membership in the Graduate School, one faculty member who
teaches in the College of Nursing Graduate Program.
- Assistant Dean for
Research & Ph.D. Program, ex officio.
- Assistant Dean for
Advanced Practice Nursing, ex officio.
- Student Services Officer,
ex officio.
Terms of Office
- All faculty elected to
this committee shall serve for a staggered two-year term.
One member with full graduate status and one with associate
graduate status will be elected in the odd years; one member
with full graduate status and one who teaches in the
graduate program will be elected in the even years.
