R.N.-M.S.N. Degree Requirements

  • Completion of the University Studies Program
  • Minimum of 40 credit hours of graduate nursing course work, depending on specialty track
  • 21 credit hours in graduate core courses
  • 13-17 credit hours in specialty track concentration courses
  • 500 or more clinical clock hours, depending on specialty track
  • Completion of evidence-based practice project in capstone course
  • Successful completion of a comprehensive final exam (Graduate School "Plan B" option)
  • Students may not progress to another course, nor graduate, with a grade of "C" or lower in a course with a clinical component
  • A minimum of grade of "C" in all other courses with a NUR prefix
  • Minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.0
  • Minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.0 in all undergraduate nursing courses as required by the College of Nursing 
  • Minimum cumulative graduate GPA of 3.0 as required by the Graduate School
  • Minimum cumulative graduate GPA of 3.0 in all graduate nursing courses as required by the College of Nursing (effective for students admitted Spring 2004 and after)
  • Time limit on a graduate degree is eight years.
