Admission Requirements for the M.S.N. Program

  • Must meet minimum standards for admission to the Graduate School
  • Minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 grading scale
  • Satisfactory scores on the Graduate Record Examination (Minimum scores of 400 on the Verbal and Quantitative portions are preferred. Analytical Writing scores are evaluated individually.)
  • Minimum score of 550 (or 213 on computer-based test) on Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) for all applicants whose native language is not English
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing from a nationally recognized accrediting organization
  • Registered nurse licensure in state where clinicals will take place 
  • Graduate-level statistics course (500-level or higher [STA 570 or EDP/EPE 557] acceptable for all tracks EXCEPT Nursing Management. Nursing Management students must take STA 570.)
  • Some clinical experience prior to first clinical course
  • Three references, two of which should be from nurses
  • Interview with a graduate faculty member
  • Written goal statement
